Flu Clinics

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children ages 6 months and older be vaccinated annually against influenza. While your child may receive their vaccine at a well child visit, our office also offers specialized Flu Clinics every fall for your convenience. Check our website or Facebook page for updates. Please call early to book your appointment.

If your child has complicated medical issues, an egg allergy or asthma, they may require a visit with their primary care provider prior to receiving a yearly flu vaccine.

The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has updated its recommendations for flu vaccine administration this year, stating that children 6 months and older should not be vaccinated with the live attenuated influenza (aka. Flumist) due to lack of efficacy. The American Academy of Pediatrics agrees with this recommendation, stating children should be vaccinated with the injectable version of the flu vaccine for the 2018-2019 flu season. Hamden Pediatrics will not be providing Flumist this season. Our flu clinics will be announced shortly. If you have questions regarding this update, please feel free to contact us.
